About us
We are Joseph and Young, the founders of Sup’s Chicken, and our story begins with a shared love of chicken. As a family, we’ve always enjoyed cooking and experimenting with new flavors, especially for our kids, who are huge chicken fans. One day, after playing around with different ingredients, we created what would become our signature dish—the Sup’s Signature Hot Sauce. It was love at first bite, and we couldn’t stop talking about how amazing it was every time we used it.
Before long, we found ourselves repeating the same conversation every time we finished a meal: “We should open a chicken restaurant!” And so, the dream began to take shape, with each clean plate fueling our excitement.
As time went by, we reached our 50s, and our kids grew up. Our days of rushing to prepare lunchboxes and juggling pickup times came to an end. It was around that time that we both realized it was the perfect moment to turn our long-time dream into reality. Running a restaurant would be a big change from what we had done before, and, yes, it may have seemed a little late in life. But our passion for sharing the chicken dishes we loved—with the very sauce we had created—was something we couldn’t ignore.
On January 15, 2024, we opened the doors to Sup’s Chicken, a small but cozy spot where we could finally share our love for chicken with the world.
The name “Sup’s Chicken” comes from Joseph’s Korean name, ‘Sup,’ and also plays off the phrase "What’s up,” a clever suggestion from our second daughter, Ari. Our eldest daughter, Esther, designed the logo, drawing it from memories of her dad’s face.
Sup’s Chicken is tucked away in a quiet business park in Gardena—a humble, unassuming place, but one that we’re incredibly proud of.
We’re so grateful to all the chicken lovers who visit us, and it’s our hope that each bite of our food brings as much joy to you as it has to our family.
